Our organisation focuses on widows and divorcees. The organisation was established in 1998 with funding from the McArthur Foundation. The organization received the funding to carry out research on Population Pressure and the “Zawarawa’ Phenomenon in Sokoto State.
In Sokoto State many women are not economically stable and they depend a lot on the men. If women are divorced or widowed they find it difficult to meet their financial obligations and in most cases they end up remarrying. In some cases, when the women are divorced they have no right to claim anything from their husbands. The organisation is working towards the empowerment of women through skill acquisition.
