There are many orphaned children in Sokoto. The Ministry of Social Welfare has an orphanage, but there have been problems with the running of it.
Our Association came into being to help out, especially in providing facilities that were lacking in the orphanage. The other problem facing the orphanage was that equipment and facilities provided by the Ministry had "disappeared", leaving the children with nothing.
VSO provided funds for purchase of toys and playground facilities such as swings and seesaws.
The Association has also tried to get people who can teach the children at the kindergarten level and is trying to raise funds for more spacious orphanage that will have better facilities for the children.
